Consultation on the Draft Public Realm Masterplan for the North Lotts and Grand Canal Dock Planning Scheme 2014 (A)

Closed 1 Nov 2016

Opened 13 Oct 2016

Overview

Comments and observations are now invited on the draft Public Realm Masterplan for the North Lotts and Grand Canal Dock SDZ Planning Scheme 2014.

The publication of the Masterplan for the Docklands SDZ is designed to accompany and support the North Lotts and Grand Canal Dock Planning Scheme which was published in 2014.

The Masterplan will guide the design of urban spaces and streets to be socially inclusive and universally accessible.  It will encourage pedestrian movement and sustainable transport uses, and improve the connectivity within the SDZ area itself and connections to the wider city. It will develop greening strategies to promote biodiversity, draw on the area’s maritime heritage to promote the arts and cultural uses, and develop strategies to animate the areas’ waterbodies by encouraging a wide mix of recreational activities and events to attract residents, workers and visitors to the area.

The Public Realm Masterplan will provide guidance to design the urban environment for a world class maritime quarter with a distinctive Dublin character. This is to be achieved by guiding the design and layout of both public and private streets, laneways, courtyards, new public parks and public spaces within the SDZ area, together with recommended palettes of high quality materials and street furniture.

As part of the public consultation process, citizens, communities, organisations are invited to make submissions below by clicking on the make a submission button or in writing to Executive Manager, Planning Dept, Civic Offices, Block 4, Floor 3, Wood Quay, Dublin 8 or by email to docklands.sdz@dublincity.ie
