Lord Mayor's Awards 2020/2021 - May: Community/Volunteer Workers
Overview
Since 1989, the Lord Mayor’s Awards have honoured individuals and groups who have made a special contribution to both Dublin and its citizens. These Awards, usually held annually, are Dublin City’s way of acknowledging and congratulating them for the extraordinary work they do.
This year the Lord Mayor’s Awards will take place monthly and the public will be able to submit nominations for the first time.
Each month members of the public will be invited to nominate either a frontline person or organisation that they think has gone above and beyond during Covid-19.
At the end of each month the Lord Mayor, Hazel Chu, will decide the winner and present them with their prize, a piece of specially-commissioned sculpture and a gift voucher worth €1,000.
There will be a different category each month, beginning in October with ‘Nursing Homes’.
The nominations will be held over 7 months and the categories will be:
- October: Nursing Homes
- November: Transport
- December: Hospital Services Staff
- January: Retail
- February: Hospital Medical Staff
- March: Emergency Services
- April: Youth
- May: Community/Volunteer Workers
Nominations for May will begin on May 1st and close on May 16th.
So if you know someone you think deserves a special mention, please come back to this page at the start of each month and get nominating. There will be a form up on this page from the 1st of May to nominate for this category. Take care all-Lord Mayor’s Office.
