The Beatty’s Avenue to Herbert Park Scheme is part of the Dublin City Council (DCC) core Active Travel Network, and is funded by the National Transport Authority (NTA). Beatty’s Avenue to Herbert Park has been identified as a suitable location for interim measures along the Dodder Greenway corridor. It will provide 0.5km of walking and cycling facilities from Beatty’s Avenue to Herbert Park.

Quiet Street Treatment - Shared space for cyclists and vehicles

  • Merrion Road

New Toucan Crossing (Cyclist and Pedestrian Crossing)

  • Anglesea Road

New two-way cycle route between Merrion Road and Herbert Park

Existing Pedestrian crossing upgraded to a Toucan Crossing

Scheme Benefits

  • Provide quality, protected cycling facilities to cater for all ages and abilities along the Dodder River corridor
  • Facilitate a more active lifestyle for all ages bringing multiple benefits for physical and mental wellbeing
  • Provide improved pedestrian and cycle facilities across Merrion Road
  • Contribute to a reduction in transport emissions in line with the objectives of the Climate Action Plan by encouraging modal shift to active travel use

Why your views matter

The DCC Active Travel Programme Office are carrying out this non-statutory public consultation from 29th May to 30th June 2023. The purpose of the consultation is to inform the public of key features of the Beatty's Avenue to Herbert Park Scheme and to gather any comments or observations.

If you have particular suggestions or comments on the proposals we would welcome your views. Submissions may be made by one of the following methods:

Please note that this is a consultation on the Beatty's Avenue to Herbert Park Scheme only, and future consultations will address proposals for the remaining sections of the Dodder Greenway project as the design progresses.

    Members of the community are invited to drop in to view the project proposals and meet the design team. All are welcome
    15th of June from 16:00-19:00 at Sandymount Community Centre, Newbridge Ave, Sandymount, Dublin 4, D04 CP80.
